Lifeguard Training

Ready to get trained up as a lifeguard?  Read on!  I highly recommend going through lifeguard training to get your lifeguard certification.  In fact, lifeguard training is a great way to be employed this coming summer no matter where you are.

If you just have to be outside and love the pool or beach atmosphere, than you should consider being a lifeguard.  Lifeguarding is a great job for both teenagers and adults a like.  Lifeguards must be employed by law wherever people are swimming.  So, that means, that at a pool or a lake or a beach where swimming is legal, there is opportunity to be hired as a lifeguard There’s a bit of a mystique around lifeguards, but becoming one is a relatively easy.  All lifeguards undergo a standard lifeguard training program, typically put on by the people that hire them  Some beaches that are more popular will also offer their own training.

Remember, you have to be able to swim, you have to have good eyesight (yes, that means 20/ 20) and you need to be strong enough to take care of other people in the pool.  Or Beach.  Or River.

You also should know CPR and have that certification as well

Finally, you must be able to carry at least forty pounds while out of the water and walk the length of the pool.  This is very important to that you are able to take care of swimmers who need you who might be bigger than you are. 

If you can pass those tests than you are ready to head to the pool for training! After training, you typically need to pass another set of tests, both written and physical.  Then you’re ready to be hired!
